  • How to start a domestic cleaning business in the UK

Setting up a cleaning business is a low-cost business idea and can be started fairly quickly with little financial commitment. The commercial cleaning market is a steadily growing sector in the UK. There is an increase in demand for more effective cleaning solutions that are focussed around additional infection and hygiene control solutions.

What is a concentrated detergent?

What is a detergent?

A detergent is a a water-soluble cleansing agent. The product elements combine with impurities and dirt to make them more soluble.

Commercial concentrated cleaning detergents consist of water and the respective cleaning ingredients. A concentrated product had a substantial percentage of water removed so that the product can be sold in smaller quantities, smaller bottles, hence producing must less waste in form of plastic bottles.

Concentrated cleaning products in comparison to original detergents (non-concentrated, original formulas) is the amount of water that needs to be added to the cleaning product before its use and how much detergent the consumer should use.

In other words, a standard detergent contains substantially more water than a concentrated one.

Concentrated detergents help the environment as the bottle size is smaller, requiring less plastic and they are more economical to produce and to ship.

  • Every concentrated detergent will come with specific instructions about the correct and safe use of the product.
  • The correct amount of water needs to be added.
  • If too much water is added, the detergent would loose its cleaning power.
  • If too little water is added, the concentrated detergent might cause health issues if the concentrated chemicals are not handled correctly.
  • If the product is not diluted correctly, it might leave a residue on the items that are being cleaned wit it.
  • A standard measuring device should be used, or sometimes the measuring cup is part of the concentrated detergent bottle, such as the cap of the bottle.

Reduce cost by using concentrated detergents

Normal, non-concentrated cleaning detergents are sold in large commercial drums. Trichem sell drums with 5, 10, 20, 205 and 1000 litres of product. Depending on the usage, a car wash for example might buy 205 litre drums, agricultural businesses might buy 1000 litre drums, and hospitals, care homes, schools etc. will opt for 5, 10 and 20 litre containers.
